    You can identify these insect-parasitic nematodes at genus level by baiting soil with wax moth larvae. If dead wax moth larva turns red then it is infected with nematode from genus Heterorhabditis and if it turns creamy or yellowish black then it is infected the nematodes from genus Steinernema. See pictures of dead red and creamy colored wax moth larvae infected with Heterorhabditis and Steinernema nematodes respectively in my one of blogs “life cycle of entomopathogenic nematodes”.     what kind parasitic nematodes you want to diagnose: Plant- parasitic, insect-parasitic or animal parasitic nematodes? For diagnosis of all these group of nematodes you have to have training. All these nematodes morphologically look very similar but they are different from each other based on some features. To see these differences you have to go through training.
